SkilSure is not a bespoke developer but able and experienced at customizing the purpose built core solution (specifically built to flexibly meet the needs of tracking competence). SkilSure offers a full range of software development, delivery and support services: these include; definition of user requirements, project scoping, planning and management, systems analysis and integration, applications development, project piloting, user surveys, project launch support, hosting, web serving and world class technical support and customer service.
Custom Development
The SkilSure solution is a fully-featured robust self-assessment, development planning and e-portfolio solution that has been specifically designed to meet the challenges of Colleges and Professional Associations assuring high standards for internships quality assurance of members competence and continuing professional development in the increasingly regulated environment for professionals in North America and the United Kingdom. Claymore has developed and refined the SkilSure solution over a fourteen year period. The current version is version 5.02. it runs on an industrial strength MS SQL Server database.
The SkilSure solution is built on a core platform that is readily customizable. We make extensive reuse of existing functionality to provide tailored solutions to fit user requirements but all solutions use the same extensive data structure and powerful business logic.
Hosting
Currently Claymore Inc. is third-party hosting and web-serving password protected SkilSure solutions to, in excess of, 100,000 users, in Europe and Canada; many users have dial up connections. Though third-party hosted, all solutions are launched from clients' websites. The service includes:
- A fully managed secure service 24 hours a day 7 days a week
- Providing guaranteed availability: downtime contracted not to exceed a fraction of 1%
- A disaster recovery plan in place
- Automated daily and weekly backups are stored offsite
- A secure hypertext transfer protocol "https"; this allows transactions with 40 or 128 bit encryption and supports security certification of web-serving from third parties
- Log on security: password protected with a unique logon ID. Profiles are set to control the user's functionality
Dial up access
The browser side of our SkilSure solutions is built with PHP. PHP has a very light web "footprint", much lighter than Java and more secure; and is generally recognized as the most effective solution for dial up connections. We provide below a relevant quote from Kevin Dooley, Senior IT Specialist at the US GAO (Government Administration Office):
"PHP was just a better fit for us because of its ability to embed things with HTML pages; we have people at remote locations around the country, like forest rangers with dial-up connections from the middle of Alaska," Dooley adds. "So we were also looking for software that is very lightweight, that only produces HTML pages. We don't need the heavy Java-based applications that have to get piped through before they can start running."
