Regulated health profession chooses secure on-line self assessment for its members.
Toronto, Canada. 24 October 2007. – This week Claymore Inc. reached an agreement with the Ontario College of Pharmacists to provide an on line self-assessment and learning portfolio solution for Ontario Pharmacists.
To provide optimal patient care throughout their careers, healthcare professionals must maintain their competency through ongoing professional development activities. Every year, 20% of registered pharmacists are selected to take part in a self-assessment of their practice. This means that approximately 2000 pharmacists are selected to participate each year, and every pharmacist is selected to participate in the mandatory self-assessment once every five years.
The Ontario College of Pharmacists already provides a number of tools to assist pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with their continuing professional development (CPD). The new solution (a custom development of the SkilSure solution) will allow Ontario Pharmacists to go securely, on-line and self assess against the profession's standards, rate their clinical knowledge and skills, and provide a summary of their continuing education activities and needs. Pharmacists will also be able to use an on line learning portfolio tool to document their learning and maintain a personal learning portfolio of learning goals, education action plans and records of learning activities.
