SkilSure Ltd.'s Professional Development System Will Keep Engineers On Track

Toronto, Canada. 1 July 2007. – This week, the Engineering and Technology Board (ETB) launched a pilot software solution with a number of Engineering Institutions to modernise how prospective and registered engineers advance their careers. The Professional Development System (PDS), a customisation of SkilSureŽ's professional development solution, has been designed to provide a user-friendly process for would-be registered engineers to track their progress towards registration and then to establish what skills they need to move forward with their career.

Initially supported by six Engineering Institutions and the Engineering Council UK (ECUK), the secure SkilSureŽ solution sets targets and records development along the typical career path of a professional engineer. PDS provides a step-by-step framework that guides prospective Chartered Engineers (CEng), Incorporated Engineers (IEng) and Engineering Technicians (EngTech) through their Initial Professional Development (IPD) by comparing their progress against the requirements laid down in the UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC). Once qualified, the system then maps their career progress against training plans and ongoing Continuous Professional Development (CPD).

Institutions participating in the one year pilot include:

Energy Institute (EI)
Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers (IGEM)
Institute of Highway Engineers (IHT)
The Society of Environmental Engineers (SEE)
The Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS)
The Institution of Railway Signal Engineers (IRSE)
